I Called Her Mary Book Cover

Brief Description:

This memoir was originally recorded as a family legacy.  However, all who have come to know the story have been moved by the experience and believe it must be shared with others.  It is a story of faith, hope, and love.

Many times in life we are faced with difficult decisions.  We all make choices and have to live with the consequences.  Sometimes these choices have happy endings.

Mick O'Hagan (husband of Peg), Peg, and Mary

Peg O’Hagan recalls a heartbreaking story about giving her daughter away only to be reunited with her later in life.  This story provides inspiration to all the separated mothers and children searching for each other.  It is also a love story between her and the man that “saved” her when she came to America and later became her husband.  Her tales of hardship and unconditional love carry the reader through to the end.

About the Authors:

Peg O’Hagan grew up in Ireland before immigrating to America.  She was married to Mick for over fifty years. They had four children together. After Mick’s passing, she felt comfortable enough to share her story with others.  She was interviewed for this memoir by her son-in-law. As Peg’s story was retold and recorded, Dr. Gorman transcribed the notes and authored the memoir. Mary, Peg’s daughter who was given up for adoption, was also interviewed and her story was captured in the memoir.
